Podcasting is moving beyond being just another form of media delivery. The ShoutOut Network in the UK is just one example of this phenomenon, which was founded “to create a space for young people from rough backgrounds to tell their stories.” They bring nuance and difference amid rising intolerance and populism.
TV schedules have gone out of the window as we curate our own watching habits and it’s the same for audio.įinally, podcasts have captured the political zeitgeist, bringing alternative voices to the fore at this confusing and disorientating time. Podcasts also conform to our busy, consumer-driven, on-demand way of life. They can do so while driving, jogging, walking the dog or any number of other activities – which you couldn’t do while watching a YouTube clip or reading an article online. 70% of people listen to podcasts from a mobile device (according to Edison Research). Podcasts fit the technological, cultural and even political spirit of our times. The young are discerning and unforgiving in their media tastes, and their approval lends the medium durability.
At a recent dinner for former BBC correspondents, one after the other, the attendees mentioned (unprompted) their teenage kids’ fascination with podcasts, and how the children had coaxed their supposedly media savvy parents into taking up the habit.
Firstly, it is young people who are leading this change. My answer is always the same, ‘absolutely not.’ The podcast revolution is real and permanent. People often ask if podcasting is just another media fad that will burn bright for a short while and then gradually fade away. It isn’t just on-demand radio, it is a whole new genre and creative form that showcases alternative ideas, voices and formats. But then again, all those young guys who do that are leaving all the super hot guys for others like me ?Įnjoy these pics, and remember that I don’t care if he’s not your type you’re wrong. This illustrates one of the stand-out features of podcasting and how it is different from other media. And you know what I say about that? IN YOUR FACE to all those young guys who put “no guys over 30” in their profiles on dating and hook up sites, this is the kind of guy you’re missing out on! Imagine all the insanely hot men who have read that and immediately been turned off. But with a body like that, the skills to cook good food, and to then burn it off afterwards with an intense session (session of what?) he’s everything I could want wrapped up into a tight package of hot manliness. I’m so useless with food I could boil my toast. He’s not only intensely hot and ripped, he’s a fitness trainer and a chef! You know they say that the way to a guys heart is his stomach? That’s pretty true in my case. No, I don’t know a whole lot about him, but I do believe you can see a lot in a guys eyes, and his eyes are so lovely I don’t think there could be anything about this guy that could possibly make me think twice about him. This dude is the ultimate, the man of my dreams, the kind of guy I would swoon over in the middle of the street and need immediate resuscitation – just so I could chase after him.
So bring on any criticism you can think of an I’ll just say “you’re wrong”. And I don’t care what anyone says about him.
